From the zine:
“Mr.Miller said that ‘any man with a bellyful of the classics is an enemy to the human race’. Thankfully for me and my ongoing relationship with humankind I never finished my meal. My attempt at reworking the first Canto of Dante’s ‘Inferno’ to be about my Pub Footy team had unsurprisingly spoiled my appetite to finish the book. I stared at the word for long enough that it was no longer a word. I could see lines, dots, circles and squiggles but I couldn’t read its meaning. I had severed the meaning from its maker in St*ic triumph, but with the limb went the feeling and the knowing. I was stuck in the thing-in-itself, lost in a K*ntian sea of unintelligibility. It was murky down there and I was a bit scared. I had broken down the ‘La Porte de l’Enfer’ into its features and when I swam I parted the rubble. All that was left properties, its pieces, its parts and in those parts was the equation but there was no sum, no whole, no resolution, no song. Nothing left but a shopping list for parts of a machine that’ll get you from A to B but in that machine the windows have been blackened, the radio bust, and there’s no wheel to change its course.”
